In support of AHDA’s ongoing ‘Enhancing Responsible Prescribing’ campaign, CANTER joined over 50 exhibitor stands, featuring some of the leading animal health companies – along with the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD), Animal Medicines Training and Regulatory Authority (AMTRA), Control of Worms Sustainably (COWS) and Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS).
CANTER Core Steering Group members Jacqui Matthews, Lucy Coyne, and Claire Shand introduced the CANTER Guidelines via the AHDA Knowledge Hub, outlining CANTER’s aim to support prescribers with practical, evidence-based principles to slow wormer resistance. They demonstrated where and how to use the guidelines, introduced the CANTER Parasite Risk Profile, and provided guidance on its application. Prescribers were encouraged to read, refer to, and incorporate these resources into their customer interactions to enhance responsible prescribing.

AHDA invited to participate in Veterinary Medicine Working Group
Led by Minister Baker (Cabinet Office) and Lord Douglas-Miller (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) the purpose of the Veterinary Medicines Working Group (VMWG) will be to advise the UK Government (UKG) on the solutions that agricultural and pharmaceutical industries, as well as private animal owners and keepers, will require to aid in ensuring the continued availability and supply of veterinary medicines into Northern Ireland.

Responsible prescribing top of the agenda at 2023 AHDA Conference

2023 AHDA Conference to Focus on Anthelmintic Resistance and Prescribing Process
The Animal Health Distributors Association’s annual conference returns to Birmingham on 19th and 20th September after a two-and-a-half-year break, providing an extensive programme of seminars and workshops led by key figures in the animal health and welfare industry.

AHDA welcomes introduction of Northern Ireland Protocol Bill
